Since 2004, the Utah Conservation Corps (UCC) has run summer youth corps programs for youth age 16-18, based out of Golden Spike National Historic Site and The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. In 2008 and 2009, the UCC youth corps partnered with the Multicultural Adventure Outdoors Foundation, the predecessor to Youth Discovery Inc, to target underserved Latino/Hispanic youth. In 2010, the program will officially identify itself as a bilingual youth corps, BYC. At least 50% of the youth will be native Spanish speakers and all program materials and information will be offered in Spanish and English. Each Friday the Corps members meet for an educational course on aspects of surviving in American society. The course has been written by Latino crew leaders of the Bilingual Youth Corps.
