Youth Discovery Inc. helps young people graduate from high school and get the training and education they need to succeed.

As you explore our web pages, you will discover that our initial focus has been on helping Latino students. We have learned that a little investment in these hard-working young people pays off in remarkable ways.

Latinos face obstacles that others may never encounter when it comes to going to college or trade school. In addition to helping Latinos, we are now reaching out to all young people in need. The things we have learned in teaching Latinos can help us guide other students who are also looking for a better path forward.  

Our strategy is to do what works. So far, our plans have focused on launching a class that will help students learn the basic skills they need after graduation. Those who take this “Self-Discovery Class,” as we are calling it, will also learn how to tutor siblings, friends and others who may be in need of similar assistance. We plan to keep our tutors, teachers, and parents digitally connected to ensure our students are applying what they learn and our investment in each student can be multiplied many times over.

We don’t pretend to be experts but we do have a bias for action. We seek volunteers who can help us build, test, and refine our approach so it can be as effective as possible. We are asking for donations so we can hire the others to help us develop the life-changing curriculum we need for this innovative class. We are completely open to new ideas and plan to form advisory councils that can offer us the guidance we need today to change lives tomorrow.

Yes, our focus has been on Latino youth and we plan to continue our efforts to serve them with our classes and offerings, even as we expand our scope to include more kids in need. We hope to test our Self-Discovery Class in the next year or two and build on what works as we reach out to schools across the country in the next five to ten years. In the meantime, we will be offering workshops, posting educational videos, and looking for other ways to make an immediate difference.

We aren’t talking about numbers here. We are talking about children and teenagers who might not otherwise believe they have the option to obtain a college education or the specialized training they need to achieve their goals. We want to change their world and we know that by so doing we will impact our own future as their contributions come into play in the years to come. We hope you will join us.
