Sponsored by Institute for the International Education of Students, the HACU-IES Abroad Scholarship is available to students who are currently attending a Hispanic-Serving Institution that is a member of Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU).

You must be a US citizen or permanent resident, have a minimum GPA of 3.3, and demostrate financial need to be eligible for this award. Priority given to first generation college students and / or Federal Pell Grant recipients.

Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program

Sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program is open to African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students who are citizens, nationals, or legal permanent residents of the United States.

You must be an entering, full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student and have a minimum 3.3 GPA; or have earned a GED to be considered for this award.

You must also demonstrate significant financial need (meet the federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria) and exhibit leadership abilities through community service, extracurricular, or other activities.

Hispanic Heritage Youth Award

Provided by Ronald McDonald House Charities, the RMHC/HACER Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors who have at least one parent of Hispanic heritage.

Kelly Hispanics for Higher Education Endowed Scholarship

The Kelly Hispanics for Higher Education Endowed Scholarship is available to full-time students at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

You must demonstrate financial need to qualify for this award.

In addition, incoming freshmen must have a minimum SAT score of 900 or a minimum ACT score of 20.

Transfer and current students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

ALA Spectrum Scholarship

The ALA Spectrum Scholarship is open to graduate students at ALA-accredited or recognized master’s degree programs in library and information studies or school library media.

You cannot have completed more than a third of the credit requirements for your degree at the time of the award (June 1).

To be eligible for this award, you must be a member of one of the underrepresented groups in the library profession: American Indian/Alaska Native, Black/African-American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, or Latino/Hispanic. Only U.S. and Canadian citizens are eligible.

LITA/LSSI Minority Scholarship

The LITA/LSSI Minority Scholarship is open to citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada who have applied for admission to an ALA accredited master’s degree program in library and information studies.

In order to apply, you must not have completed more than 12 semester hours (or its equivalent) towards the master’s degree.

You must also demonstrate a commitment to a career in library automation and information technology and be a member of one of the underrepresented groups in the library profession: African-American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latino/Hispanic, or American Indian/Native Alaskan.

The Pedro Zamora Public Policy Fellowship is open to young professionals, undergraduate and graduate students who seek experience in HIV-related public policy and government affairs.
